Wick FC is Willowick Soccer Club's Travel Soccer program.
What is travel soccer? It is a more competitive form of recreational soccer. It is for those who are excelling at soccer and want to take their training and skills to the next level. As the name implies, we travel to neighboring cities to play other teams that are at a similar level. Kids must try out to earn their place on a team. We follow OHTSL’s guidelines which utilizes the birth year format.
The travel soccer season runs in parallel to the recreation season. The biggest difference is the focus on practice versus games. There's 2 practices a week and 1 game a week which is normally on Sunday (8 games per session). The season begins in July with games starting in August and ending in October. The spring season starts in April and finishes up in June. There's 8 games per session scheduled.
With the focus on as many touches as possible, we participate in Indoor Soccer over the winter. We work to practice at least once a week and have an indoor game on the weekend.
Playing in tournaments is also part of our program and we generally participate in three tournaments a season.
